Perry Appointed to Oversee Peachtree Streetcar Initiative

As you may know efforts are being made by the City of Atlanta to revitalize Peachtree Street. On Monday, November 21, 2005, Mayor Shirley Franklin announced the appointment of Egbert Perry as co-leader of the Peachtree Corridor Taskforce. The Peachtree Corridor Taskforce will be responsible for the creation of several sub-committees. These sub-committees will develop a vision for the Peachtree Corridor that will promote pedestrian-friendly walk spaces, and the Peachtree Streetcar initiative, a street car that connects Atlanta’s business districts and new development that will increase storefront properties along Atlanta’s most famous street.

ANOTHER OPENING FOR ATLANTA
Yesterday, Mayor Shirley Franklin announced the creation of the Peachtree Streetcar initiative, a new effort to revitalize Peachtree Street, Atlanta’s legendary avenue that stretches from Downtown to Buckhead. Joining Mayor Franklin at yesterday’s announcement were Michael Robison, chairman of the board of Atlanta Streetcar Inc. and chairman and chief executive officer of Lanier Parking; Bernie Marcus, founder of the Georgia Aquarium; Tom Bell, vice chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of Cousins Properties Incorporated; Shelton g. Stanfill, president of the Woodruff Arts Center and Egbert Perry, chairman and chief executive officer of Integral Group LLC. Mr. Bell and Mr. Perry will lead the new initiative.
